This was my first attempt ever at hand carving. The cross stands six feet high and is made of walnut with a spalted walnut base. I was struck by the gravity of the task and hope the clients have strong positive memories of their mother, may she rest in peace, every time they gaze upon this memorial.

Nicely done. I assume it’s setting outside, what kind of finish are you putting on it?

I used a basecoat of Boiled Linseed Oil and then several coats of General Finishes Outdoor Oil to seal it.
