This is a built-in floor to ceiling bookcase with window seat that I added to my daughters room back in 2008. This system also spans the full width of the wall too. This was the last picture I took as as you can see the window seat still was not all painted. the bookcases are trimmed at the top with crown molding and the bottom with typical boocase base molding and around the window seat too. The window seat top uses a piano hinge and has storage and is a frame and panel contruction of beadboard for the panels and is was put together completely using pocket hole joinery. I used bead board for the inside back of the bookcases and the shelves are adjusdtable the entire height of the bookcases so they can be positioned anywhere. I spaced out the shelves equally in the beginning as you can see my daughters stuffed animals quickly found a home on there. This project took me about 4 weekends to build an cost me about $250.00 worth of Home Depot hardware, birch plywood, beadboard sheets and poplar for the frames and a partial gallon of white paint. I modeled this one after Norm’s library system with my own changes.
