This is number seven in the Secret Stash Jewelry box series. I did five last year for Christmas, one, the mock up, I kept. I built a curved sided one for SWMBO for Valentines day.The first picture shows the front. Of course photos don’t show the chatoyance the finished curly cherry provides, but it is truly remarkable. #2 is a view of the top tray done in Maple from the curved side SS Jewelry box. #3 the bottom tray milled from an oak pallet from work. #4 shows the secret stash area. There are four rare earth magnets counter sunk in the corners of the base and four tacks CS in the box. The registration cleats center the box on the base. That was milled from some of the left over Sapele Christmas gift boxes. #5 bookmatched curly cherry on 3/16” ply, my usual substrate. #6 is the little thumb pull. It is laminated maple, sapele and oak, kind of tying most of the woods in the build together. I pinned it to the box with some 1/16” copper wire. I really like using copper with sapele, they just go together. The miters on the box are splined with sapele and the miters on the sapele base are of course splined with cherry. The upper tray has some little splines hand cut with a Dozuki. The kerf is 25 thou. I milled the splines with a hand plane.
It was a good build, not too many hurdles, although it was my first time with curly cherry. I had a few issues with tearout, but just sharpened the tools and took it slow. I did this one in record time too. Twelve days.

Great job on this box. Wish I had thought of the magnets when I built my secret compartment boxes of a similar design but I didn’t make the rabbit wide enough to put them in. The laminated/doweled handle adds a further touch of class to this one.
