A&C style lap tray / desk for my laptop.
My laptop would get pretty hot and make my legs ache and I’m pretty sure it was hard on the computer too.
I went with the A&C style to get some practice with m&t joinery, I also figured the slats would let the air circulate better. It seems to work well, the computer doesn’t get nearly as hot and my legs have stopped hurting.
Made entirely of salvaged wood, it is an assortment of quarter and rift sawn white oak and flat sawn red oak.
Stained dark with a min-wax gel stain to get a more uniform look from the mismatched wood.
There were no metal fasteners used in this project.
Cost $0.
This is very similar to one that Steve in Marin did on WWFMM. This one was all but finished before I saw his video, the leg assembly’s are very similar. http://woodtube.ning.com/video/breakfast-in-bed-tray-or-laptop-in-bed-tray

Awesome. I’m going to the garage and making one right now! What a good idea. I spend a while each night watching tv and using sketch up, this would be perfect.

Great tray at an even greater price! I like the slats. The overall tray is a little similar to one I built last year.
