I have just made this small 4” plane out of purpleheart. The block was sliced into 3, 2 sides and the centre which was cut into 2, laminated together and shaped. It has a concave ground blade, I shall use it for making tone bars for acoustic instruments.

Well done. Just finished a block plane myself… so know that some work went into it. Did you use a brass pin, or is it a wood dowel?

Your plane would be a good basis for a beading plane I would like to attempt.

The wedge on the smaller plane is a bit of a fiddle to adjust. So I have made a brass wedge with adjuster. So much better, nice long full length .

Important bit missing. Try a different way.
