Completed in 1988. This is a Woodsmith project. This cradle is made from cherry. I didn’t have a lathe at the time and purchased the spindles from Rockler. Creating a curved raised panel was an interesting part of the project using an attachment on the tablesaw fence to cut the side panel at a bevel. I never could stop the cradle from creaking. No amount of wax on the pivot dowels would cease the noise!

My daughter kept dolls in the cradle for a number of years. However, it eventually was relegated to the attic and the grain on the side panels seemed to almost burst in the heat. Not sure if I will fix it prior to the first grandchild, or just make a new one…

Thanks Jim. The cradle stage is short lived, but it was pretty handy.
