"Chip" the Rocking Horse

Completed in 1993. My oldest son named his rocking horse “Chip” and we never did find out how he chose that name. This is a Woodsmith project made of southern yellow pine and douglas fir. Many kids have enjoyed this rocking horse over the years. It waits patiently in our dining room for the next generation!

Oh yeah, I made the simple, knock-down, oak book case in the background of the first picture as well.

Mark,
Great pictures, thanks for sharing. I am 2 days into finishing a rocking horse that I am making for my first daughter’s 1st birthday present. I cannot wait to see similar memories made in the coming year.

There’s something about a rocking horse that draws young kids to it. It must really capture their imagination. I can’t wait to see some grandchildren on this one.

Mark,

The rocking horse looks familiar. I think that’s from where my husband’s inspiration came on this one for our youngest grandson.
