This was the first project I’ve built since I was in high school. I’ve only recently gotten back into woodworking, and the bug has bit hard! I built this as a Valentine’s Day present earlier this year for my girlfriend (now fiancee; I guess it must have worked!). It is strongly based on the YouTube video series posted by Steve Ramsey (he wasn’t kidding when he said sanding those coves was a lot of work). I probably watched those videos five times each, so thanks Steve! The main body of the box and frame for the top are made of walnut, the top panel is cherry. The box is far from perfect, but my fiancee loves it.
