Nice tool, what is the purpose of the brass strip? I could understand it on an edge as a wear surface, but in the center of a face puzzles me.

I’m going to try and make one of these. I’m with Wdwerker, what is the purpose of the brass strip? It doesn’t look like it wears on anything. Looks nice though, and good job of letting it in.
