Hi fellow wood workers , back after an abscence, I have been real busy with various projects.
The first I submit is, my own design as a desk top clock. This is rather fun to turn, as there has to be two centres, the first to get the outside crest and then the centre is changed 1/2 inch to the right and this creates the inside shape of the crest. From here the centre goes back on the lathe to create the inner circle. The inside of the crest is finished off on a sanding drum .

Nice work and a very unique design. What type of woods did you use?

Thank you Vince, I am in New Zealand , have used two of our native woods
The main part is Tawa, similar to Oak and the inset is Manuka , similar to Purple Heart , but a different colour.
