I got the plans for this project from Steve over at Woodworking for Mere Mortals. He includes pretty much everything you need to know in the video so if you like the way it looks def check it out…certainly a fun project. I used what I had on hand so the handle is poplar and the head is cherry. I made some mistakes and learned a lot as usual but had a lot of fun making it and I am pleased with how it turned out. I finished it with boiled linseed oil.

Nice mallet. Is that little bit of round over on the handle enough to make it comfortable to use?

Yes, I think it is pretty comfortable. If I were to do it again I might shape it up some more, but I am happy with this one.

Have your say...
