We’re outfitting our summer home with a Green and Green’s cloud lift design theme. This is the latest project made of Alder rails and Stiles and hickory panels. The pegs are Ebony stained Massaranduba.

Have you ever had “one of those projects” where nothing went right. This project, while not difficult, took forever because I made dumb mistakes from beginning to end. ugh!

Nice and simple. What did you use to finish?

I used Watco danish oil for the finish

How did you groove the cloud lift rails?

First, I made a dado on the table saw while the wood was rectangular. Then I cut the profile of the cloud lift. I used a bandsaw to get the profile “close” and cleaned up the edge using a template mounted to the rail. A router bit with a template bearing made the job easy. Lastly, I cleaned up the edges with a spindle sander.

I hope this helps
