This board was created for a friend who just moved to New Mexico. The design was influenced by the symbol on the New Mexico state flag. I used Jatoba, Hard Maple and Yellowheart and sealed it with 100% pure Tung Oil. The alignment got a little away from me, which is easy to do with sooooo many pieces. I have recently purchased an Incra LS-TS positioner and hope the added precision will make my next attempt more perfect.

designs getting away from us, happens to everybody! The Incra will be invaluable in helping get the precision you need. The next one will be perfect, i bet! This might make a neat coffee table too. So many possibilities!

The design reminds me of those turquoise belt buckles and bolo ties. One of these days I want to make it out there. Good hefty looking block.

-- I just got done cutting three boards and all four of them were too short. (true story)

I think there is an unexploited market in the Southwest-Santa Fe design category. I can’t remember the last time I saw a cutting board design in this motif. Just think of this board as a demonstration model, a.k.a. prototype.
