One of my Neighbors took down this Silver Maple tree about a year ago.
It has some interesting grain. Wish I had a lot more of this. Fun to Turn!
All are finished with Wipe-On Poly, the bowl has Mineral Oil and Beeswax on inside.

Thanks for looking!

Very nice score on the wood.

I think you did a great job and love the shade with the lamp. Two ideas on the bowl
1. you can take a torch and burn the rim alittle to really make it pop out and
2. The side walls should have been a little thinner.

How did you finish off the bottoms on all three?

Thanks Pete, note the corrected spelling.
Arlin thanks for your suggestions. I was hoping to go for thinner walls but wood was very unstable, better too have one piece in hand than several at my feet. All three were parted off with slight recess, the lamp has four shallow holes for small rubber feet to sit in,
high enough to allow for the cord clearance.

Nice spalted pieces. You’re right about the instability. I have had a few blow up on me. Best to watch how fast you spin them !

Holy smoke Nick – what a beautiful set! I don’t know what it is but that live edge bowl really speaks to me. You have an incredible eye for the wood!
