This summer my wife and I visited the Motawi Tile factory in Ann Arbor Michigan and Pewabic Pottery in Detroit. We came away with several tiles and a lot of ideas for projects. I first made a Dard Hunter style frame, but in my haste to get started, I forgot to consult the family style director. After seeing the first frame my wife felt the it needed to be more obviously Mission style, hence the second frame.

The tile is based on a design by Frank LLoyd Wright for a carpet for one of his clients. The frames are QS white oak. After several tests pieces, we decided on Minwax provincial stain. I gave it a seal coat of spray shellac and a dozen coats of wipe on poly.

This is very nice and I am looking to make something similar for a couple of tiles I have saved. What are the dimensions of the frame and or tile? The final look is very nice.
