Just a pine box I built for a friend. This is my first attempt at box joints, it worked out OK I reckon. I was instructed to use Sedona Red stain…not my favorite, but oh well! Finished with Gloss poly and a nice wax job. The pictures don’t really do it justice…but they do hide the gaps in my joints! The last picture shows my hand reflection…they said they wanted it shiny, so I made it shiny!

Thanks Mauricio – I tried like heck! During this build I realized that woodworking is just taking a big piece of wood, cutting it into smaller pieces of wood, and putting them back together to make a big piece of wood…however, I struggle through that entire process!

Excellent! After recent excursions into box joints I know how frustrating and rewarding they can be.

Ohh! That’s way too shiny! Nice box and a nice finish.

Thanks DeLayne! The box joints were a challenge. I’m glad I tried them, but I don’t think I’ll be doing them again unless someone specifically asks for them. I’m on a dovetail kick now.
Surfside – it is WAYY to shiny for my taste. I much prefer smooth and satin, unless its on an instrument.
