“Broke Oak” Circa 2009

From a piece of red oak I found on the side of the road in the North Druid Hills area of Decatur, GA, less than 2 miles from my current home.

It is approximatly 18” in Diameter
It has one large check the edges of which I dyed black.
Flamed around the rim to highlight grain
Spray Poly finish.

This is by far my favorite piece I have ever turned. Not the prettiest or most refined….but still my favorite.

I think it is awesome. How it was found along the road like an abandoned dog.
