Spalted Maple Cutting Board

I’ve had some strips of spalted maple for a while just sitting around. They were all twisted and warped, so I jointed them and planed them square, then I glued them up into a panel that I made this cutting board out of. It is finished with mineral oil. Thanks for looking!

one thing to remember is that spalting is caused by fungus.
whike it makes for some great looking wood it is not a good idea for food contact
it is a great looking board

Yeah I didn’t really think about it too much before I made the board. I kinda had the idea in my head that the fungus died when the wood was dried. I did some research and there is some argument back and forth. I couldn’t find anything that was peer reviewed or even scientifically written so for saftey sake this board is for looks only.
