Hi All,
I originally planned to make knifes and spoons and other small items in my garage. But with the advent of our first child my wife suggested I make a changing table for my impending son. I thought that was a great idea. I usually begin something new by ignoring the steep learning curve ahead of me. That leaves plenty of room for headaches and tears. But I got it done and I learned a great deal. All and all I’m pretty happy with my first experience building furniture.

That has got to be the cleanest changing table I have ever seen. Well done.

I have to build one of these for a coming grandchild. I like the look you have here.
If I haven’t said it before, welcome to LJ’s.

As the proud father of a 9 month old girl, may I recommend a front rail. They get quite wriggly (the babies, not the front rails…)
Also, did you make the table to fit a store bought mattress?

Thanks everyone. It had occurred to me that it should have a front rail about 2 minutes after I finished the poly coat. I am thinking of doing something removable with long pegs that fit into holes across the front. And it is sized to the pad we have. We haven’t started using it yet, Teddy came 2 weeks early, before I had a chance apply the finish. Since he has been sleeping in the bassinet, the crib has been our changing table. As soon as i get the front rail done, we will switch over.
Have your say...
