This is a custom bed that was built for a customer. It is in pine with a rustic finish. It was a style that I built previously, but the customer wanted to add a gun drawer. I raised the height a little and made a cutout for a drawer to slide in. Built a drawer from ½” birch and attached some casters to the bottom. Inside the drawer I built a row of supports to hold the guns in an upright position.
I’ve built several beds that used similar iron and at first had them hand forged, but the prices got too high. Now I buy my iron form King Architectural Metals. I just now have to build around their sizes.
The rustic finish was a light color stain and then a dark pigmented wax.
Other uses I’ve found for the iron

I love the idea of using the iron with wood. It really adds something new to it. The gun storage is great, from the pics it looks seamless

Hi Chris,
This is a nice bedroom suite and I can honestly say I have never seen a gun drawer incorporated into a bed before. Very unusual and interesting design. The iron does add a nice detail to the bed.
Well done.

The bed with the gun drawer looks like it has a face and is pulling tongues :)

Like the rustic look but I’m not sure I would want a gun in my bedroom. After 31 yrs of marriage, it doesnt take a lot to really aggrivate the LOML. LOL. Have a great day.

Hello Chris
Great work. I really like the bed. I has been looking for a way to store my gun. I am not one that like to display them. I was going to build a hidden gun case in a built in wall unit but I could not take it with me if I move. I think a gun bed is in my future.

The finish on the bedroom suite is the best I have seen on pine. I think pine is under rated and your work is a very good argument that it should be used a lot more. Thanks for sharing that project. I have been trying to decide what wood to use on a cabinet project and with that finish I think pine is the answer. Can you tell I really like the finish….almost forgot about what it is on, which is also a beautiful job.
