I turned out a batch of 25 Freedom Pens and got them ready to mail back to the project administrators.
These are all mahogony, finished with O.B.’s Shine Juice.
I think turning pens is a good skill-building exercise. These were done with the lathe running at 4000rpm, using an oval skew for the bulk of the work, and a 1/2” curved skew for some of the finer details.
BTW … if anyone is interested, drop a note to Capt Eddie Castelin (firstname.lastname@example.org) and tell him you want to sign up! With Veteran’s Day 2012 just a few weeks away, now would be a great time to let someone in uniform know you appreciate what they are doing for us!
