What’s Up LumberJocks,
We wanted to share with you all our latest project in which my wife and I were getting fed-up with buying those “cheesy” styrofoam tombstones (grave stones) every year to decorate for Halloween. We love our holidays, especially Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. So we try our best to be festive (trying to give our neighbors some inspiration to get our there and decorate too, LOL) and decorate. Where we live it gets extremely windy (Chicago has nothing on us:) and our decor ends up in someone else’s yard for them to look at. So we decided to take the reminents from the doghouse project and make our own tombstones for the yard out of wood. We are planning on putting a large enough “dato” in the top of a 2×4 and glue and screw the tombstone in the middle. We are going to paint them to look like concrete and use the plunge router to engrave what we want the tombstones to read. We will hopefully get the chance to show you guys the finished product when they are complete. (Hopefully they turn out the way we want them)
We appreciate you guys stopping buy,
Happy Woodworking!!!!!

mcoyfrog,
We really appreciate the great comment. The beauty of it is, is that we will hopefully have them for years, and we do not have to fight with those styrofoam ones that last a year or two. I think my wife is enjoying this project so far more than I am. She is really enjoying learning and playing with power tools and creating projects out of wood. We are extremely excited, and hope to learn all we can from our fellow lumberjocks.

The folks on this website are packed full of experience and are willing to share I’ve learned so much just by prowling the projects and blogs. Have fun and keep up the wood play…
