This is my last finished project. Made mostly of solid wood, hard maple and cherry, back wall is maple plywood. Finished with oil based varnish (alkyd resin). Design is my original. Doors are “semi open” frame. In early stage I wanted to make classical doors in complete frame, but in my sketched it looked little bit busy with wood in front view and content of the cabinet not well pronounced. Thinking that way I came to idea to remove wood from the center and just leave “floating” handles. As for wiring. Visible wire on on top or under cabinet top would be ugly and in total dissonance with whole cabinet style. I decided to route three groves, put wires in them and cover the groves with wood.
IT took me a while to finish the cabinet, but finally my wife is happy and I proceed with my shop “renovation” with light heart ;-)

I so need to make something like this for my turnings. Right now they are scatter around on everything.

How did you attach the “floating handles” to the glass? Are the glass doors drilled in some way?

Really nice job.

I decided to used double sided tape, in order to see how it looks. To my surprise, the tape keep the handles pretty well. If it will fail, I will use silicon selant (was advised on another forum) or E6000 glue.
