This is a blanket chest that I made for my wife for our anniversary. It is made from cherry and silver birch and has a cedar bottom. The bread board ends were a little more challenging than anticipated but patience won. I was torn between making the panels flat or raised but as you can see I went with flat because I wanted the shape of the legs and the breadboard ends to stand out as well as the contrast between the heartwood and the sapwood of the birch. The finish is 3 coats of tung oil.
My wife loves it so thats what counts I suppose.

Thanks for looking.

Good job with the floating tenon/spline joinery in contrast. Nice touch.
