The guy I bought this wood from said it was Machiche – I’ll have to take his word for it.
I wanted to make a top with opposing doors and this is what I came up with. Piano hinges made more sense on this one and I also used chains to keep the doors open at a certain point.
The whole box is Machiche and I tried once again to wrap the grain around the box. 8 X 8 X 4.
Mostly I use Tung Oil first to accent the grain and then several coats of poly.

That is a mitey fine box. Your work is very nice…! However,I do not think the wood is Machiche…it looks more like marblewood

Greg, you are so right. They do not even remotely look alike. The seller must have mis-labled the piece of wood he sold me. By the way, thanks for the cool link for wood ID.
