Quick Tension Lever for my Bandsaw

A quick tensioning lever for my Craftsman 12 ” Bandsaw. I pull the lever and insert wedge to lock, when detensioned the wedge hangs by blade as a reminder to tension.
Warning!!!!!!!!
their is a lot of tension on the spring your compressing.
mine is built from hickory, handle must be tough, steel would also be a good choice.
this has the potential to be a real knuckle buster!

It’s not a good project unless i leave blood on it somewhere :-)

Aways nice to be able to give it that little extra tension sometimes.
