This is the second piece I carved in the Haida style.
The box was off the shelf from woodcraft and I embeded some detail inlay along the bottom.
Aeromatic cedar has been added inside bottom and woven in the top.

Hey, that cedar weave is kind cool. How long has it been finished and does it still have the aroma?

Thanks, It’s similar to Blanket Boxes done by natives.
I did this in 2001 and has lost most aroma but can be sanded lightly to refresh.

Beautiful carving. I have alway really liked Haida art and stories behind the individual motifs.
