Cherry and Walnut Bowls

Looking to use up some scrap cherry and walnut and decided to make a couple of bowls. I like the way #1 turned out, though during the process, I found a couple of steps could be shortened. As a result I may make some similar bowls for the holidays. I also liked the simplicity of #2.

They are both approx 8” in diameter and 5” and 3” inches tall respectively.

Very nice. How did you make the walnut dowels? I tried turning walnut to insert in segments but never really got the fit to a point I liked. I was thinking about using a standard plug cutters. Any advice would be appreciated.

I actually used walnut dowels purchased from the woodcraft store. I tried plug cutters, but since the dowels went all the way through the side, my plug cutters did not give me plugs that were long enough for my purpose.
