Thanks for stopping by to scope out the first (remember I said “first”) ever building with wood project that my wife and I ever attempted together. We had the bare bones for power tools to build it. We had a couple of saw horses, a cordless drill, a corded drill, a “Skil” saw, and a few others right on the patio with our “four-legged” children to help. It was extremely hot that day too, and were getting infested by a million and one flies. (I know, T.M.I). The last picture is not the finished product, but will take a photo of it and get it posted along with these others to show what some trim and a coat of paint can cover up. We actually framed it kind of like a house, to include poly insulation in the front and back walls. Please excuse the mess. Although there are lots of inperfections, and we had some challenges trying to cut the sheet goods on a couple of saw horses. But for the first ever project we have attempted, it did not turn-out too bad.
Thanks for checking out our project.

Hello Wood Jocks,
We finally got around to taking some photos of the finished dog house for our “four-legged” children. It is amazing what a couple of coats of paint and some trim can make a world of difference in your project. We initially wanted to put on a peak type roof, but elected to go with a flat roof with shingles. The house is on the patio under a roof, so hopefully it will not get hit with bad weather.
Thanks for checking out our project.

Looks like your pups have a great new home. A dog house was probably a fantastic learning project. You know the clients are never going to complain that the joins are not perfect!

You know you built a big box – and we hear time and again that boxes are one of the hardest things to get right, so looks like the two of you can move on to almost anything now!.

Great job on first project and the second. Welcome to LJ’s, you’ll find many, many great ideas here. Wait until your wife sees all of the projects the two of you could work on!
Great pups, it’s amazing how many of us have dogs. I too started out making a pup crate, then a desk, mostly out of plywood. Also began with a hand held scrolling jig saw and a circular saw.

Kookaburra/dee2—Appreciate the awesome comments on our dog house. (The second too) I am glad I was able to find this cool website with such awesome fellow woodworkers. Dee2, I see you have some pretty awesome work yourself. Hopefully one day my wife and I will gain enough knowledge and experience to turn out some awesome projects. Kookaburra, I think my wife and will be giving a go at something like that wine cabinet you built. We enjoy our wine too!
