Although these projects have been posted individually in the past, a couple of weeks ago I decided to enter them into our local county fair. I’ve never actually put my work on display for judging like this and had no idea what would happen.

I have to say that I was VERY pleased with the results! My carved chess set received 1st place in the “Carving Category” and my Scrollwork of Bruce Willis received 2nd Place in the “Scrollsaw Category”. Besides ribbons, the fair also awarded a small monetary prize – I will probably just frame the check and the ribbons instead of cashing it though. :-)

Oh yeah – Pic 4 shows my other two entries. I brew my own beer, so I decided to also enter two different ones just to see how they fared. Both my Belgian Ale and my Amber Ale were awarded 2nd place ribbons!

I don’t know if I will do this again, but the experience was well worth the effort – I would recommend this to anyone who does woodworking as most county & state fairs have tons of age groups and categories to match your particular niche.

Cheers!

Good for you for entering, I have never done something like that.

Congradulations! It’s fun seeing what the contests produce. I’ve been to two and have enjoyed them both. So again congratulations.
