I orignally built these benches for my porch. Popularity cought on and now Im batching them out. I work maintenance at an apartment complex so naturally we have quite a few on the property. They are simple 2×4 construction, glued, and screwed with outdoor power pro screws. Each bench is 4 ft long, all angles are 15 degrees to give a comfortable back position, and can be made out of 6 8’ boards and 1 10’ board. The design is universal of course. I have made them from 2’ to 6’ long.

For construction:
Legs-17”
Bottom leg style-24”
Top leg style-20”
Back support-31”
Leg stretcher-40”
Seat and back slats-48”
All angles 15 or 90

When assembling the legs use a scrap 2×4 as a spacer between the top and bottom leg styles. Its just a matter of eyeballing everything on edge.

Thanks! Another quick tip…when assembling the base, lay out the legs upside down in a v shape and screw the styles to the legs not the legs to the styles. This will hide most of the screw heads from view when assembled. Also, screw the leg stretcher into the back supports. That way you are not screwing into end grain. Originally I screwed through the bottom leg style into the leg stretcher. They started to fail at this joint over time due to the screw wandering out of the end grain. Anyway, ENJOY!
