Maple and PurpleHeart Cutting Board

Just messing around…showed it to some coworkers and now I have to make three more for their wives….I will do a different edge profile on each and probably change the widths of the pieces because I like to make each board unique…..

Dusty,

This is a nice cutting board. I am not surprised that you have requests for more of these.

Good job.

Dusty,
I love the Purpleheart and maple combo also. I’m in the process of finishing a bookcase w/that combo. Are you
aware that purpleheart can be a toxic wood? I’m not saying that it can’t be used in cutting boards, I really don’t
know, I’m certainly no expert but I do know that splinters can fester easily.

Just wanted to bring it to your attention.

I really liked your design of cutting board #1

Apparently if you were to breathe too much of the dust from Purple Heart , it could cause nausea , however , I could not find anything that said food contact was an issue … thank you for your concerns for others. I have been using it for at least 10 years with no ill effects….Knock on wood ! ; )
