Got idea from Steve Ramsey on his woodworking for mere mortals site
Made this planter using 1×4 cedar… basic panel frame sides and planks for side fill and bottom. No glue, just used pocket hole joinery. I ran a couple of stainless deck screws into the mitered corners of the top for a little extra support. Applied a couple of coats of water based outdoor poly just to see how long the finish would last.
Basically, a quick weekend project. Didn’t want to attach hose reel to house siding… and utilities are running underground at that spot… so didn’t want to drive anything into the ground. Spigot is to irrigation well water.
Anyway, easy to pull hose out and recoil when done. Planter heavy enough to keep from tipping over.

How big is that, and how many feet of hose fits in it? I need to build one of these before winter, and not sure how big to make it to hold all my hose.

Nice box Dusty. The frame & panel gives it a nice clean look. My try that for my next go-around on the WWMM planter box!

Box outside frame is 18.5×21.5 and 13 deep. It holds 100’ of 5/8 hose. Leg corners run about 2.5 inches longer to keep it off the ground. I haven’t drilled hole in bottom or side for the hose to run from bottom to spigot. Trying it as is as an experiment.
