Hi everyone , it’s been a while since i posted a birdhouse , at least a week or two . lol
This is # 5 of 10 that i am building for a couple in Wisconsin. It is made from 80 year old barn wood and has 20 apartments . It is almost 3 ft square and 38” high.

Very nice (beautiful as always). I really like the black metal roofs, is it siding? That’s going to be some yard when they put our 10 houses up.

John,

I love these birdhouses. You do such a wonderful job with the design and construction. I see that this an upscale one with a metal roof and dormers. You are going to attract some high flying tenets with this one I am sure. :)

Thanks for the post.

Very nice. What type of birds do they attract, purple martins?

Very excellently done. Does it have running water and tv in each room. By the way are the room separate or is the inside one opening ?

Thank you everyone for all the very nice comments . This is a very simple design compared to some of the ones i have done . I will be happy to get back to building the large ones . lol The insides are all done with 3/16 plywood and are all interlocked and removable for easy cleaning . Lee : The next large house i build will be named after you .

Thanks again mrtrim , the birds are going crazy with them now . I forgot to mention most of the houses i have done are mostly for sparrows and swallows but since i have been getting a lot of Purple Martins i have decided to design some for them also . I am also going to be building a dovecote .

Another great birdhouse John. I like this design, small and simple….I wanted to build one for my yard, like the one I just finished but my wife thinks it’s too big. This one might be a better size for my yard! I wanted to ask you, do you put sealer on the base or just the house? I was thinking it might not be good for the birds in the bottom units if there was sealer on their floor! Maybe you just do the trim, or the trim and the outside edges, but not under the house?

Thank you David and Bill , I use Thompsons waterseal on the houses that i plane down but i only do the exposed areas then i clear caulk around the bottom of the house to keep the water out . This house is bigger then the cape cod .

Great job as usual John!
I’m suprised someone would have room for 10 of these in their yard! Do they (the customers) have a large yard? Do they want all 10 the same or 10 different? And how are they being shipped?
