I received a commission request for a Saltbox House Coin Bank. I had to Google “Saltbox House” before I agreed to do it, since I had no idea what a Saltbox House was. It was a fun and challenging little project. I’m very happy with the results.

The wood is Spruce. The stains are Rosewood and Swedish Red. I used a wood burning tool to outline the door and windows. I sanded away some of the stain in the windows to lighten them up. The parts are joined with glue and brads.

Money enters the bank via a coin slot in the chimney and the money is accessed by removing the base (4 screws). It’s quick and easy for an adult with a screwdriver, not so quick or easy for a kid in his room without a screwdriver.
