The shen is an ancient Egyptian hieroglyph that represents eternal protection. Originally, it was a loop of rope with a knot. Whatever was looped with the rope would be protected. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shen_ring

This one is a mirror, but it could be a picture frame. It uses an off the shelf 5” mirror I picked up at a hobby shop.

This, along with this, will be a gift.

Maple, clear lacquer.

-- It must be jelly baby, cause jam don't shake like that...

Has kind of an art deco feel about it – which is appropriate since Egyptian design influenced art deco. Nice clean look. Good wood choice.

Fine job there Harry. That would make a nice clock stand. May have to change the angle a little so you could see the clock but I really like the design.
Hope all is well with you and family. Cooling down some here in South Carolina. Can get outside now without sweat dripping off my body.

That is very interesting and a neat project. My daughter is an archaeologist and she would appreciate something like this. A nice little XMas gift. Looks like I’ve added another project to my list!
