Here is my first bowl , so what do you think?...
I am not to sure what kind of wood it is but it sure did stunk like cow poo when it was green.
It is 8 1/2 ” in dia. and 4 ” deep I finished it with poly and sanded it down the 400 and put a few coats of
bees wax.

I think it looks great!! I don’t have a clue as to the wood, especially because it stunk!

Green hickory can smell like that, although you turned the bowl near the pith and I don’t see any dark heartwood so it doesn’t look like hickory. Nice job. Now your hooked, get ready to have dust just collecting on your table saw.

Oh yeah I been hooked ….lol I know it is not hickory . It is a tall tree with branches only near the top …. I can try to get pics of one still standing .

Excellent work! What a beautiful piece! Oddly enough, it just so happens that I myself turned my very first bowl a week ago, and I must say that yours puts mine to shame! None the less, if you were half as thrilled as I was just to successfully complete your project, then cheers, & congratulations! Keep turning & keep learning!

Doodle : I’ve turned into a turning fool… lol I turn all most every day. and the days I don’t turn cause i’m in therphy or having a “bad day” I’m thinking about what ’s the next thing i’m going to turn…. I haven’t been here in a while I should take some pics. and do a few more project updates….lol
