Knife handle made from..

Curly birch – apple tree – elk horn – vulcanized red – bleack leather.

tung oil finish (5 or 6 coats.. and will be coated later on in the year.

I added a nut to the tang to secure the handle better (epoxy was used for the bulk of the job)

comment queries and criticism all welcome

Kewl, where do you get the blanks, blades whatever they are called LOL. Or do you forge them yourself.

Nice work

HI mcoyfrog
brisa.fi they sell kits… i had the elk horn and the apple wood … the birch is not up to much… but looked alot better after oiling… i have just ordered 5 blanks with bolsters.
I have learnt some lessons on the first knife and i think i may blog the next five as i think theres a few things i could do with hints on or pass on what i have already learnt..
do have some leather or vulcanised rubber card. for between layers if you are making it in the nordic style.. i kept some brown of the antler on the handle so i can show the hunters here the horn i took has been used and recycled.. i have just got a good bookin swedish on knife making.. i also intend to translate a few bits from that because… well the knives are good and the sheaths and the finishes are practical and efficient.
good luck with any knife you take on
