Hard to believe that I am working on anything but the stairway. But have some small orders to fill and another show in 2 weeks. So in my “spare time” I am trying to get some other projects done.

First, y’all can start booing now. Since I don’t have a lot of tinker time in shop I BOUGHT a box joint jig. This is my first attempt with this jig. Went OK.

Spalted Oak. Spray on poly finish. The hinges are black Walnut. About 10” x 5” x 5”

Sorry, crappy pictures

Thanks for looking

I’m sure you’ll have a lotta fun with that new jig. The box and joints look pretty good to me. Nice paw carving also. Way to dress it up.

Nothing wrong with buying a jig that works that well. I love the paw print and the live edge. One suggestion: I would ‘break’ the edges on the ends of the lid and corners with some 120-150 grit. What jig did you buy and what did you cut the box joints with?

Like it—especially the paw print that fits perfectly with the character of the box.

It’s a nice box and I’m glad the jig worked well for you.

Those box joints look crisp with flat bottoms and no dog ears. I love my Freud box cutter set.
