I wanted to turn a mallet to use with my chisels, and decided to laminate one out of smaller scrap pieces I had around. The handle is walnut, and I laminated maple and birch pieces to it. There ended up being two layers of lamination to get the mallet head big enough. I kept the handle long to counter-balance the head. The whole thing weighs 28 ozs.
Finish is natural danish oil with a few drops of red TransTint added.

Most excellent mallet Shampeon!
Home made tools are the best and using scrap pieces to boot,
nice combo.
Have your say...
