This is one of a pair of twin-size beds I made for my boys. I only had one picture that turned out very well, so here it is. Probably just as well since this is one of those projects that looks better from a distance with a little bit of blurred vision, if you know what I mean.
The head and footboards are made with MDF that I pattern routed. I didn’t have a lathe at the time, so the posts were actually seconds that I picked up at a bargain builders outlet. They are actually stair rail posts. The bed rails were made from 2×6 lumber. A good heavy load of black paint made it turn out okay. I had a contractor tell me once that, “putty and paint make a carpenter what he ain’t!”
The underbed drawers I built later in an attempt to help the boys de-clutter their room. It didn’t work.
