Cherry Chest of Drawers

This is my first posting but the project was actually done a few years ago. I’m finally getting around to figuring out how to put pictures on here!
Anyway, this is a cherry chest of drawers that I built for my daughter. We were in need of furniture but were short on money. This chest was done as cheaply as I could figure out! The drawer fronts are solid cherry. The rest of the case was done with 1/4 cherry plywood over poplar framing. The drawer bodies I made out of some cheap 1/2 inch plywood from home depot! They don’t look so great, but they seem to function okay.

Hopefully I can upload some of my other projects over the next few days.

Thanks for looking!

Looks good to me. Not every piece of furniture needs to be solid wood.

Very nice work, looks real good. How did you finish it? Looks like natural cherry, with a clear finish.
Thanks for showing.

Thanks for the comments everyone.

Oldtool- You are right about the finish. It was finished with a few coats of garnet shellac.

Great job on your chest of drawers. I like seeing what others have done with veneered plywood on the sides. I will be starting a 7-drawer chest soon that will also make use of veneered plywood sides, in much the same fashion as yours. Thanks for sharing.
