I came across some pix of a blanket chest I made for a charity auction some years ago and thought I’d share….
Made with hand cut dovetails, from pine, finished with milk paint, and has a secret compartment. I remember making the floor of the blanket storage area even with the top of the drawer openings to maximize the storage space and to keep the drawers from tipping down when opened.
It’s not made from plans, just from a photo of one I liked….
I don’t know if the winning bidder has found the secret compartment yet or if they know one exists….. IIRC, I put my contact info, some construction photos, and a note about who the charity auction was for inside it. Might be something that surprises me in twenty years, who knows ?!
Thanks for looking!

What a great contribution to the charity. And, great idea to place contact info in the hidden compartment. Super nice chest and construction.

Beautiful chest. I hope you included in your secret compartment something saying “It took you this damn long to find this?

Very nice work indeed! Home made projects do quite well in charity auctions. I been known to donate a chest or two to local charities.
I always include a letter of authenticity with my chests, the letter includes construction photos and details of where I obtained the wood (if the tree was local). Also if the chest is made out of oak, I would attach acorns to the letter and explain that the acorns were for the next generation of chests. Of course all this is for show to spark interest in the chest which brings in more money for the charity and interest in your woodworking skills.
I like your other projects especially the gift to the fisherman buddy.
I like the Idea on the hidden compartment I wonder if the winner has found it. Maybe you could fill it with those chocolate gold coins and the client would be wondering where that noise was coming from as they moved the chest around
