Watch pen

This is a pen I made for my wife for her birthday. Originally it was going to be a ‘steam punk’ pen, but there were to many little details in my design that I could not work out in time. Once I got the old pocket watch dissassembled, the back plate was too cool to ignore. So I filed it down really thin so I could bend it around the tube. Once I had the tubes painted and all the little parts stuck to the tubes, I cast them in resin and waited. Once I had it turned, I wet sanded it to 12,000, then I went to the lambs wool with the tripoli, white diamond and then the carnauba wax. When I was done I was so excited, I had to show it to her, even though her birthday is not for 2 more weeks.

Thanks for looking!
Jeremy

Jeremy,
Awesome looking pen. I can see why you were excited to show it to your spouse. Happy Birthday to her by the way.
Having no knowledge of the process, how do you cast? How do you get the bubbles out? support the piece in the mold? Etc. Any pictures would be welcome. Thanks, Don

Awesome. I’m a watch collector in my other life. I just sold a whole box of dead watches on ebay for about $20. I’m sure I still have a few laying around. What would you charge another LJ to make another one?
