I just finished up at an Art Fair here in Aurora, Il. I had some boxes in various stages of completion and I made a bunch more to fill the table. I didn’t sell too much – it was kind of a artsy fartsy hippy dippy fair – alot of lookers and not many buyers. I did give out alot of business cards and met a couple of great woodworkers, so it ended up being alot of fun anyway. I’m going to try to list as many boxes as I can.
Somewhere I saw a box with the rails going all the way around the box and also being “feet”, so I went for that and then just winged it. The box itself is all Padouk – one of my favorites (the other being Bloodwood). It kind of gets that 3D effect when you get the finish on it. The feet and handle are (I forgot what kind of wood) tinted with India Ink. The lid lifts off and sets back into a rabbet.
