Hello, I made 2 of these for an upcoming charity auction. They’re both identical and measure 12” x 6” x 4”. I made the handle out of wenge too and used the bent wood lamination technique and then shaped them by hand.

Let me know what you think. Also let me know what they should go for at auction. I need to give a start price and a buy it now price.
Thanks!
William

Nice looking box. Quilted maple is an amazing wood.

Very nice box. I have used birdseye maple and wenge on a couple of projects. I really love the contrast of the two woods. As far as a price…I have donated several projects for charity auctions. I never set a start price…if its for charity, then it shouldn’t matter. I have had boxes go for as little as $50 and as much as $550. The only thing I as is that if I am not there, then please let me know what it went for. This helps me decide how much a particular style box might be worth if I was to sell one…Vic

Now that’s a beautiful box. It’s great how simple the inside is and how you used the same wood for the bottom. Is the quilted maple veneer or solid?

This is a gorgeous box and I really like the wenge and maple combination.
I hope that it does well in the auction.

Beautiful box!
It is hard to say what the starting price should be. I’d think it would depend on the type of event, and what sort of people are in attendance. For example, if you are talking about a church fundraiser auction to be held at the picnic after Sunday services, $50 might be a reasonable starting point. On the other hand, if it is a $1,000 a plate black tie dinner where you know most all in attendance are very well off and eager to help the charity, then $300 or $400 might be perfectly appropriate.

Nice box. The light and dark wood combo is tough to beat.
Only because you ask. Its worth at least 100.00 and might go for much more based on your market and marketing ability. For an auction I’d start it at 65.00 and put a reserve at 100.00 (or whatever your min. price is.).
