A request from my wife. Grandson and Lady Friend Prom photo need a frame.
I dove into my scrap bin and found some nice pieces. This is why I keep all those little scraps!
The picture is a 5” X 7” and the frame outside dimensions are 7 1/2” X 9 1/2”. The finish is lacquer.
Now she has a matching larger one to go with the smaller one I made for her last year. Once again! I got some smiles and a big hug for my efforts!
NOTE:
To make the hinge a bit stiff to move I add a drop of epoxy to the hinge and set holder at the angle I want as it hardens. I warm the epoxy so it will flow into the hinge.

This is exactly why I keep all those scraps. You just never know when they will come in handy. Tony, I really like the unique corner treatment both front and back. Maple and Cherry? As Red green is fond of saying, “if the women don’t find you handsome at least they ought to find you handy” “) Nice work friend!!

L2L,
I once tossed out all my scraps and boy oh boy did I miss not having them just one day later. So now I gladly give some squar footage to my scrap bin never to take it for granted ever again!
Thanks my friend!

A very nice frame Tony. Kids n GrdKids alike, grow up so fast, too fast. I think the only scrap in woodworking is dust. Some day, maybe someone will come up with a way to recycle that. Wouldn’t that be gr8.

Thanks Roger,
I found a way to recycle those shavings & saw dust.
Here in Florida we have very sandy soil. I take my “clean” sawdust & woodshavings to the garden and mix them with my garden soil. I’ve been doing that for a long time now and my plants seem to love it. Fine wood particals rot down and helps feed the plants.

Hey! I really like this, I’ve never made a picture frame before, this one looks really nice! I’ll have to make a picture frame sometime.
Keep up the good work,
AJ

Nice frame! Hard to tell so I’ll ask – is that just a hinge holding the stand to the frame?

Dan, Yes it’s a small 3/4” brass hinge.
I added a picture for you to see.
To make the hinge a bit stiff to move I add a drop of epoxy to the hinge and set holder at the angle I want as it hardens. I warm the epoxy so it will flow into the hinge.
Hope this helps!
