It’s funny that as we get quite older we sometimes revert back to when we were quite younger. My 83 year old father recently has really gotten into watching and rooting for the Washington Nationals…we actually have a good baseball team which is new for us in these parts. Through the years but even more recently, my Dad would like to blow a horn when his favorite football team did something good so my Mom in another part of the house would know…even though she could care less, my Dad feels obliged to keep her updated.
So, knowing how he likes to blow horns to make noise in celebration and now being a Nats fan, I made him this customized Washington Nationals train whistle that he can blow when the Nats do something good. I bought the wooden whistle online, so I didn’t actually make this. But what I did do was buff the wood out with my new Beall buffing system and I countersunk a 1” hole with a Forstner bit to perfectly fit in a Washington Nats golf ball marker secured in place with some medium CA glue. The Beall system really is easy to use and I can’t wait to use it on some turned pieces in the near future.
