This is a Cherry Media Cabinet, commissioned by my employer, Fisher Communications, Inc., for their Board Conference Room (also in 2011). It was a challenge I met with enthusiasm and nerves! It had to fit between the column and the wall and only be a high as the sill. Other detailed requests were to match another piece of furniture in the room (very plain), full-extension slide out shelves and plexiglass doors. I was extremely happy with the way the grain was spotlighted in the face frame. Great project!!!

Beautiful piece, almost a shame it has to be stuck in a corner!

I know from experience it is tough to match a piece of furniture that is in the same room. Not only do you have to copy the style you have to get the exact same hue in the stain. Nice job!

Thanks very much for the compliments! This was my first true piece of what I would consider as a “high-end” piece of furninture (but not my last!). When I build the next one, I will not use hardwood ply for the top – I don’t like the way it came out, but the budget didn’t allow for another 5 bd. ft. of cherry. One of the biggest challenges was to figure out how to mount the shelf rail extensions when there is a face frame. I think it worked out pretty well – learn something new every day!
