I made this for my mom for her basket collection which used to be a big pile in the corner. The unit is made from mahogany. Sorry not a very good picture.

Not sure who is busier, you or your mom. Looks nicely done.

Good job. This must have reduced the clutter big time ! Are the baskets First Nations baskets from Alaska ?

Thanks :) Most of the baskets are from Alaska a few are from other parts of the world. My mom also has some of her own in there, she teaches Aleut basket weaving.

What a weird thing for your mum to collect – and I can only say this because my wife also collects baskets. Only difference is my wife does not have a nice unit to store them in. All kinds of odd shape and sizes that refuse to sit or stand straight no matter where you out them.
Love your carvings also – and Kodiak Island sounds like an awesome place.

My first impression was that the picture was taken in a shop. That means it pleases the eye. I always admire people with a sense for decoration. If it was my collection things would probably sit in rectangular orientation all at the front edge and carry labels and numbers :-)
I love the shelf. Make sure your Mum doesn’t get interested in bigger objects.
